Foundation
RMR - Foundation for Research into Musculoskeletal and Rheumatic Diseases - was created in 2011 by Professor Alexander So, head of the Rheumatology Service at the CHUV, in Lausanne.
Its mission is to support fundamental and clinical research in order to improve the health and care of people with rheumatic diseases.
The goal of the foundation is to raise funds to support the research team’s work into the future. Fundraising is essential, as the financing currently provided by the Confederation, some private foundations and, on a much smaller scale, by the CHUV and the University of Lausanne, is not sufficient to cover the costs (of some hundreds of thousands of francs per year).
The board of trustees is assisted by an international scientific advisory board and a local support committee. All work is undertaken on a voluntary basis.
The foundation has recognized charitable status and is registered on the Commercial Register of the Canton de Vaud and is subject to the Supervisory Authority of Foundations. The accounts are audited annually by BDO SA, Epalinges.
